Reinterpreting the Rider’s Jacket in Linen

The rider’s jacket has always been about movement.

Its proportions are practical. Its details are purposeful. A high collar, generous pockets and a strong front closure give it a distinct character - one that has travelled well beyond the motorcycle.

For Brillington, we wanted to take that familiar language and give it a different expression.

In Chipperfield Linen

This interpretation is made from Maison Hellard Chipperfield linen, a fabric that changes the character of the traditional rider jacket entirely.

Instead of the weight and rigidity often associated with outerwear of this kind, the linen brings a sense of ease. Its natural texture gives the jacket an understated richness, while its lighter construction allows the silhouette to move naturally with the wearer.

The result is a rider jacket that feels less like protective clothing and more like something that belongs naturally within a considered wardrobe.

Details That Change the Silhouette

The double-zip front is both functional and visual. Opening the lower zip creates additional room for movement and changes the way the jacket sits on the body.

The high collar and utility pockets remain true to the spirit of the original, while the relaxed proportions give the piece a distinctly Brillington character.

We are interested in clothing that carries a sense of history without being confined by it.

The Motard takes the attitude of the rider’s jacket and places it in a different context — one where linen, proportion and construction become as important as function.

It can be worn as outerwear, layered over tailoring, or simply thrown over a shirt. Its character comes from the balance between utility and ease.
