Bespoke Tailoring in Jakarta — Frequently Asked Questions

What services does Brillington & Brothers offer?

Brillington & Brothers is a bespoke tailoring house in Jakarta offering full custom suits, jackets, trousers, and shirts, all handcrafted in our Gunawarman atelier. Our tailoring covers formalwear, wedding suits, business wardrobes, and smart-casual garments designed to move comfortably through daily life.

We are known for our light tailoring approach - garments that feel natural, breathable, and elegant.

Alongside bespoke, we also offer:

  • Made-to-Measure tailoring (coming soon)

  • Ready-to-wear pieces designed with the same construction philosophy

  • Seasonal cloth programs, including Italian, Japanese and some limited seasonal fabrics

Whether for work, weddings, or everyday elegance, our aim is simple:
to create garments you can wear again and again.

Where are Brillington suits made?

Every Brillington garment is hand-built in our Gunawarman atelier in Jakarta.

From pattern drafting to final pressing, each piece passes through the hands of our in-house tailors. This allows us to control the entire process - ensuring the precision, comfort, and proportion that define Brillington craftsmanship.

Unlike factory production, our suits are built through multiple stages of tailoring and fittings to ensure the garment feels personal to the wearer.

What makes Brillington different from other tailors in Jakarta?

Brillington combines Italian ease with British discipline, forming what we call The Brillington Cut.

Our jackets feature:

  • Soft shoulders with minimal padding

  • Slightly extended shoulder line for presence

  • Higher armholes for comfort and mobility

  • Natural chest drape for shape

  • A balanced lapel and deep V-opening

We are particularly known in Jakarta for light tailoring - garments designed to move, breathe, and age beautifully over time.

All patterns are drafted in-house in Gunawarman, allowing us to create a silhouette that reflects both the wearer’s posture and personal style.

How long does it take to make a custom suit?

A full custom suit typically takes around two months, including two to three fittings.

The timeline depends on:

  • Fabric selection

  • Fitting adjustments

  • Seasonal cloth availability

Most of our fabrics are imported from Italy and Japan, which may influence timing.

For international clients or trunk show orders, we can arrange adjusted timelines and remote fittings where necessary.

What are your price ranges?

  • Our tailoring is structured across different levels of personalization.

    Full Custom (Bespoke)
    Starting from IDR 24,500,000

    Made-to-Measure (coming soon)
A precision tailoring program with shorter timelines.

Everyday Tailoring — Open Quarter Tailor
    Starting from IDR 4,799,000

Each level reflects a different degree of pattern development, hand finishing and construction complexity.

What is the process of ordering a full custom suit at Brillington?

Every Brillington suit begins with a conversation — not a measurement.

Step 1 — Consultation.
You’ll meet directly with our fitter or co-founder to discuss your lifestyle, preferences, and intended use of the suit, jackets or other items. This helps us recommend the right construction, cloth weight, and silhouette.

Step 2 — Fabric & Style Selection.
We’ll guide you through a curated library of cloths, from lightweight wools to seasonal blends. Together we decide details .

Step 3 — Measurement & Pattern.
Your body is measured and observed - posture, shoulder balance, and natural stance. From there, we draft your personal pattern in-house to ensure proportion and mobility.

Step 4 — Fitting Sessions.
Your first fitting is about structure; your second refines movement and drape.

Step 5 — Finishing & Collection.
Once approved, the garment is hand-finished, pressed, and reviewed before delivery. We’ll schedule a final try-on to ensure comfort and silhouette are exactly right.

What should I look for when choosing a bespoke tailor?

Choosing the right bespoke tailor is less about labels and more about process, communication, and craftsmanship.

A good tailor should offer:

Personal consultation
Understanding your lifestyle and how you intend to wear the garment.

In-house pattern making
Ensuring the suit is shaped specifically for your body.

Multiple fittings
Allowing the garment to evolve and improve through each stage.

Construction knowledge
The tailor should be able to explain shoulder structure, balance, and cloth behavior.

At Brillington & Brothers, our approach focuses on building garments that move naturally with the body while maintaining a refined silhouette - a balance we describe as Italian ease with British discipline.
